RE : curriculum intent

At Marshland Primary Academy, the Doncaster Agreed Syllabus forms the basis of our learning to ensure we have a well-structured and sequenced RE curriculum that is broad, balanced and relevant.

Through effective teaching and learning, our curriculum will:

  • enable children’s understanding of concepts and the development of skills and attitudes so that they can explore wider issues of religion and belief in religiously literate ways.
  • prepare our children for active citizenship in a diverse and rapidly changing world in the 21st century, exploring some aspects of British Values in relation to religions and worldviews.
  • develop children’s independence and confidence in their learning through an enquiry based approached.
  • promote respect for the children’s community, through learning about the religious beliefs and practices of the people within it.
